Furthermore, we run the widely expanding WeShape event network. This consists of events such as London Tech Leaders - a leading peer-to-peer C-suite event network with quarterly events and weekly digital content. London DevOps is an event network for technology associates with over 9000 members on MeetUp. 

The problem you’ll be solving.

WeShape is growing rapidly - in the last 3 years, we’ve increased revenue from £600,000 to £9m. 

We have ambitious growth plans for the next three years, with a comprehensive strategy that will take us to further growth, and ultimately a market event. 

We're now looking for an exceptional Head of Finance & Commercial who can take strategic oversight of our new Commercial function, provide regular updates to our growing Exco & Board, and ensure our risks are managed and mitigated effectively as we grow. 

What you’ll be doing.

This will be a vast and varied role, where you’ll gain exposure to different areas of our finance and operations function.

 

At WeShape no two days are the same, and you’ll be given responsibilities across Finance and Commercial Legal areas : 

  • Set, build and manage WeShape’s financial strategy, including our plans to go through a market event in the next three years 
  • Working with our outsourced bookkeepers and accountants to generate accurate MI and reporting 
  • Review Terms and contracts with multiple stakeholders and understand their impact on finances 
  • Build out internal tooling and dashboards for modelling, MI, and tracking
  • Working with the board of directors to analyse and interpret MI to generate business insights and strategic decision-making 
  • Managing our share options scheme scheme, ensuring compliance and fairness as we grow
  • Cultivating a culture of finance expertise amongst the business 
  • Managing our external finance relationships - banks, invoice finance etc…
  • Managing our creditors, debtors and ensuring WeShape hit our internal KPIs

As this role grows and develops, there is also the potential for:

  • Line management of future Finance/Legal hires 
  • Building out a world-class finance team 
  • Managing supplier relationships and ensuring an optimal spending strategy 
  • Implement an internal audit programme to ensure that the company complies with all financial and statutory regulations.

This role is for you if: 

  • You’re passionate about finance and best practice
  • You’re an experienced negotiator
  • You have experience reviewing complex contracts, with legal experience 
  • You’re ambitious and wanting to undertake the challenges and rewards of a market event
  • You’re highly organised, with a great eye for detail 
  • You’re not afraid to try new things and take on new responsibilities as your career grows
  • You’re able to communicate to stakeholders at all levels, both inside and outside the organisation

Ideally you’ll have: 

  • Experience in a Finance role for a growing organisation
  • Worked in consulting, recruitment, or technology
  • System knowledge of our current finance tech stack (Xero, Google Sheets, IDeal Invoice Finance, Sage payroll, Pleo etc..) 
  • Experience working with invoice finance providers 
  • A finance qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ICAEW, ICAI, ICAS etc…)
  • Experience of going through a market event would be hugely advantageous
  • Team management experience would be beneficial
